In The Pink

In The Pink

You may be sitting there, staring at your screen, thinking what on earth is she talking about NOW? Well, let me clarify. Back around the time of the first reveal of Lori Anderson’s 6th Bead Soup Blog Party, a very great idea came to one of the participants-to do something special and amazing that would shower Lori with love and appreciation, and would reflect just how grateful we were that she not only coordinates the Blog Parties, but hosts them, pairs us up with amazing partners, and overall works herself to the bone to make sure our jewelry, our art, is what shines through when all is said and done. To show our unity in our appreciation and support, several of us have gone “pink”  as Lori is known for her sweet fuchsia highlights! After thinking long and hard on how I can join this blog hop, and still be a presentable bridesmaid in my brother’s wedding a few weeks later, I opted to turn to digital solutions and was quite pleased with the result:

Now that the wedding is over, I am contemplating a shocking new color!

Along with our hair, and anything else we felt needed to be pink, we wrote sentiments for Lori, to let her know how special we feel she is:

Dear Lori,
Thank you for all the hard work you put into making the Bead Soup Blog Party #6 such an incredible one! I am amazed at all you accomplish in such little time, and single-handedly no less! Your blog hop has not only restored my faith in human kindness, but it has given me a great opportunity to connect with like-minded people all over the world who all share the love of creating beautiful things. You have created a wonderful community, one that I am proud to be a part of.
Love,
Heather Otto
I truly enjoyed the Blog Party, and look forward to Lori’s next one! Follow the links below to see how others celebrated Lori!

Getting Back on Track

Getting Back on Track

Now that I have reached the anti-climax of our huge trip to Oregon for my brother’s wedding, I am having a hard time getting back into a productive groove again. I have schedule myself many deadlines and activities, but I am finding myself with sails hoisted, and no wind. I knew I would have a hard time leaving Oregon, and I think the emotional energy has sapped the motivation right out of me. But, this too shall pass. I would hate to disappoint any of my swap partners, (one big motivator!!) and earn myself a bad reputation (another huge motivator!) And, the holidays are coming! So I know I need to get a move on it, if I hope to provide an awesome shopping experience through my shops! I don’t normally post such personal info, and I’m not usually so whiny on such a public blog. So I do apologize.

Moving on!

My big news this week: I was incredibly honored with being one of the chosen jewelry makers to receive Bead Soup from Kalmbach Publishing Company!! Retailers who advertise in Kalmbach publications sent is a huge variety of Bead Soups, which in turn were distributed to jewelry makers all over the United States. Once we have created our necklaces using the soup we received, Kalmbach Publishing Co. will be posting the completed projects on their Facebook page as well as on their Pinterest page! Aside from the great recognition, there will also be a drawing for prizes in the form of gift certificates and other prizes for various categories. I am so excited be to a part!! Here is the Soup I received, sent in by Wired Up Beads:

Look at that fantastic lampwork focal!! The extra beads sent coordinate perfectly with the colors in the focal and the silver clasp is simple and elegant. And that cute little packaging?! I will be getting started on this ASAP, after I complete and mail my holiday ornament (more on that in another blog post!)! The reveal date for this Bead Soup Party is October 31st, so stay tuned to see what I come up with!

Til then, my friends: cherish your loved ones-whether they are born into your family or join your family along the way down your twisting, winding road called Life. And bead on. =^..^=
