Cab Wrapping Class

Cab Wrapping Class

What a great class! I finally feel like I have gotten my head wrapped around the entire concept (haha) and am SO excited to get started wrapping these cabs (short for cabochons) I’ve been hording! I am amazed at what a bit of wire, a little rock, and a whole lot of cussing can do when brought together in a harmonious fashion. I want to go back in time and personally thank the first person to ever wrap a stone and wear it! We spent over three hours wrapping, shaping, bending and forming three sweet little pendants, and we even able to patina two of them before leaving class! I put a patina on the last one when I got the kids to bed, and then tumbled everything all together for good measure. I am pretty stoked about the results and feel, well, pretty proud of them! Check them out:

Hopefully, I will hone my skills, and maybe one day soon be able to list something on my Etsy shop! Right now, it just sits there, all empty and lonely. (My sewn baby items will be listed there soon-but that’s for another blog post). It always surprises me the energy I get from creating something. I feel lighter, and energized, ready to take on the world. The momentum builds, and I find myself pacing my Craft Room, trying to figure out where to start. Last night, while these pendants tumbled, I started forming the links I had designed in my sketch book, to try and start seeing if any of them are even feasible in wire-form. I had some great results, and a few disappointing results. But overall, a successful mission. I love the look of handmade chain, so I will be churning many a link out! But today, I have a Very Important Birthday party for L, and must ground myself and return to earth, and get started on the prep! See you next week! =^..^=
